July Eats

Tomato and Cheese Slices
Simple yet perfect this is what i eat when i don't bring any food from home or if there's nothing good to eat at Work. Basically its just Coon Tasty Cheese on top of bread with sliced tomatoes on top sprinkled with salt and pepper put in a mini oven till the bread is nicely toasted the cheese has melted and the tomatoes is slightly cooked and crispy on the sides. It's cheesy, tomatoey and peppery.

Vegetarian Fried Rice With Steam Cauliflower on top
This was a fail attempt of making fried rice which still turned out to be tasty after i kept adding random ingredients to liven up the flavor. Thats why this recipe didn't make it into my recipe blog. Basically the fried rice consisted of onions, capsicum, cauliflower, carrot and cabbage. The fried rice was lacking alot of flavor and was very bland. However since my parents were not in Australia me and my brother had to make do.

Clockwise from the tip: Muthiya,Roti,Bean and Potato Curry and Fried Potato Curry

Yes this meal was as lovely as it looks.Lots of variety and lots of foo. Basically the beans and potato curry was made by me and the rest by my aunty. Muthiya is made out of spinach of water spinach (some sort of leafy green bitter vegetable) which is boiled/steamed and then you fry it with onions and other spices. The potato curry is a dry, fried curry. The beans and potato curry which i made i used frozen beans, potatoes, tomatoes and onion and other spices. The curry was so lovely an i even was going to note down the recipe for this blog however i was feeling really lazy. But dont worry when ever i make it next time i i surely will write a recipe up for it.

August Eats

Mi Goreng flavored noodles with mix vegetables

This is basically instant Mi Goreng Noodles cooked with mix vegetables. I was planning on adding some onion an ginger, garlic and chilli paste in ti however i was feeling lazy so i left it simple. These mi goreng noodles wernt authentic and tasted rather sweet due to the soy sauce that comes with it. However when your hungry it doesn't matter.

Fish and Chips served with lemon an tartar sauce

Who can not love fish an chips. It so great and thanks to the person who created it. I ate this at a mall located near Darling Harbour. The fish was very oily but the coating was sill very crisp and the fish very well cooked and chunky. The chips were nicely cooked and very well seasoned. Served with slice of lemon and tartar sauce and that s marriage made in heaven.

Mix Vegetable Curry with Toast

This is mixed vegetable curry with toasted bread from my mums restaurant which i ate at work. The curry consists of potato, cauliflower and peas. The curry was fresh and tangy with lots of  chunky vegetables in it. The vegetables were still firm and not mushy however the tangy sauce really overpowered the dish and was very oily as you can tell from the picture. But if you eat it with bread, rice or roti it sucks all those juices up.

Bhindi (Okra) and Potato Curry

The Boy is my personal master chef seriously he cooks so well that i want to force him to audition for the MasteChef show next year. He cooked bhindi (okra) and potato curry which we ate with Lebanese Bread and rice. Normally bhindi curry is meant to be fried however since he cooked it in a small pot it was more gluggy and not fried at all. But still very tasty.

Sunflower Taiwanese Gourmet Restaurant

Hey guys its been ages since I've posted anything but I've just been busy with assignments as my new uni semester just started so sorry guys. And because of so many exams i havn;t even gotten a chance to go out and restaurants .So The Boy and Ms I thought it be a great time for me to go out with them to do salsa at The Establishment. I personally don't like salsa and i prefer eating over dancing anytime however since The Boy was getting annoyed so i thought why not i give it a try. But before i could do any sort of dancing i had to please my stomach first so off we went in search of a good restaurant close to Central station and UTS.

I have gone past Sunflower Taiwanese Gourmet Restaurant so many time while walking up to Broadway mall but never really thought on having dinner there. Now on this occasion because we were in a rush and wanted to eat somewhere close to public transport we planned on going to a Malaysian restaurant however the Malaysian restaurant that i had my mind on was closed so the only good looking place to eat we could find was Sunflower Taiwanese Gourmet Restaurant.

Sunflower Taiwanese Gourmet Restaurant is a very small Asian restaurant located right next to UTS and very close to Broadway Mall and Central station. As you peer at the window you will see those fake yet lifelike sculpture thingy that show what dishes they serve. As soon as you enter you will be greeted by one of the staff and will allocate you to the desired seat. Now the restaurant is very small and the night we went was very busy so it was a bit crowded when sitting down next to people on the other paper. the restaurant looks very neat and modern an has a massive picture of weird psychedelic cows, sunflowers and a kid eating ice cream all mashed up into a major art piece. Now the system in this restaurant is that you have to choose your dish and say to the person  in the counter and pay upfront. You also have to collect water bottles from the counter by yourself and various other condiments such as soy sauce, chilli an garlic paste from the counter as well.

The Boy an i ordered proper meal meanwhile Ms I wasn't feeling hungry and had already eaten so she ordered dessert.

Sunflower Paradise - $9.80
Normally im not a sweet fan especially when its to due with pancakes and crepes however this was just so beautifully delicious.Sunflower Paradise crepe had a mix of strawberry's and sliced bananas inside the crepe. Drizzled with chocolate on top and served with chocolate ice cream, whipped cream and sliced banana and strawberry. The crepes were nicely thin but slightly chewy however the fruit was just so fresh . It wasn't that heavy and rich like other pancakes and was very light, flavorsome and tasty.Just a little downside of this dish was the cream. I thought it would be sweet but it was bland and tasted not nice if you took a huge spoonful of it.Also the crepes were still warm when it was served so we knew it was freshly made and the fruits were nicely cut and not canned

Next came my seafood dish. The Seafood Combination dish had a combination of prawns, crab stick meat, baby octopus mixed with tofu, carrots, broccoli, bok choi and onions. It looked very healthy. The seafood was very nicely cooked and not fishy in taste and odor and the sauce tasted like sesame oil. However i found the sauce lacked in much flavor and i believed it needed a kick of soy sauce, garlic and chillis to liven it up. Therefore i mixed some extra condiments with it which was chilli an garlic paste and chilli oil. The serving was so big that i couldn't even finish it all.
Seafood Combination with rice- $11.20
Next came the Boys dish which was Orange Sauce Chicken with Rice..Now i was a bit skeptical of ordering this dish for The Boy because it had orange sauce in it which i thought it  be a odd combination with the chicken and maybe it will overpower the chicken making it sickly sweet but i was wrong. He's dish had nicely crumbed chicken pieces served with sauteed orange pieces broccoli and mystery minced stuff on top of his rice. It reminded me of Chicken Kraage as the chicken pieces were ever so nicely crumbed. Now i wasn't meant to eat chicken that day so i didn't get to try his dish however The Boy absolutely loved it He said that the orange sauce didn't over power the chicken at all and he found the chicken very crunchy and tender. Now the fried chicken pieces must be very good as he normally doesn't eat fried things. We weren't
sure on what the mystery stuff on top of the rice was. Ms I said it was crushed peanuts but i have a feeling it was minced pork.Again the portion was so huge that even The Boy couldn't finish it all.
Orange Sauce Chicken with Rice-$9.80.
Me and The Boy wanted something sweet now so we ordered another crepe dish.  Tropical Paradise had mixed fruit of mangoes kiwi pineapple and strawberry inside the crepe with mango sauce around it. Served with mango ice cream whipped cream and mixed fruit on top. Not only does this crepe look pretty but it damn yummy as well. The fruit was so fresh and tasty and went well with the crepe and mango sauce. Now the best feature of this dish was the mango ice cream  OMG i was in heaven it tasted like bloody fresh mango ice cream not does fake ones but those authentic fresh type similar to a gelato. It wasn't milky but more icy and sherbety. Very nice and refreshing after a heavy meal.
Tropical Paradise- $9.80

In conclusion Sunflower Taiwanese Gourmet Restaurant is a very quirky, tasty and cheap restaurant. From the outside you wouldn't tell that the place be selling fresh, clean, cheap yet tasty dishes. You can tell that the restaurant is very popular as its always packed with fellow Asian customers. The crepes are very fresh and made on order i believe as the crepes are still warm to the touch and the fruits used inside them are freshly cut and not canned. I will definitely come to this restaurant again an try the other dishes especially the dumplings.
I give Sunflower Taiwanese Gourmet Restaurant a 4/5.
